East In Six Interview with KNG SVN (@ezy071)

Many artists struggle with outdoing their last performance, especially after delivering a well-rounded body of work. Earlier in the year, KNG SVN released a stellar project titled The Blue Album, which surpassed all prior expectations. Today we got a chance to talk briefly with the Chicago rapper about his newest release East In Six, and here’s how it went down.

What was your inspiration behind the album title?

Being from the Eastside of Chicago, there is a bus called The-6 that takes you along the Eastside all the way downtown. During the commute, you get to observe the good and bad all in one ride. I wanted to give the listener the same experience through my music.

What separates this project from the others?

Although the shortest, this project took the most time to make. I had so many beats to choose from when getting started. Before I create a project, I like to line the beats up sonically and play them in album order to see how it feels. The production drives the music, so once that was out the way, I ended up writing the album in about 2-weeks.

Who did you work with on it?

Lord SC, who is like a brother to me, inspired me earlier on in music. Having someone in my family circle that rapped made me believe I could do the same and follow suit. BossBway, who I feel is Top-5 ever from Chicago. His lyricism and ability to change flow patterns are unmatched. Marv J is another superior emcee in the game. We should’ve had 50 songs done by now (lol). With conflicting schedules, the timing just never panned out, but we were able to get it done.

Can we expect any videos in the future?

VCMB for sure! Cobra Commander is another possibility as well. I try to pay attention to what the internet/streets are saying before investing in a video. I let the people decide while I continue to create the music.

Anything else you would like to share?

We got some new merch dropping the first week of December you should check out. Another performance on January 27th to bring in the new year. In the meantime, we focused on making East In SIX a success and building up the label (Class Of 96′ Sound, Inc).
