Hailing from Suffolk, Virginia, the sample-based producer and beatmaker grew up surrounded by musicians who unknowingly laid the foundation for his creative path. His father was a DJ, his grandfather played guitar in church, and his mother was a drummer who helped shape his love for rhythm. Following in her footsteps, he spent time playing percussion in church, developing an ear for music long before he ever considered making beats of his own.
Although music had been woven into his life from the beginning, it wasn’t until 2022 that Man of Many Hats fully embraced his calling as a producer. Since then, he’s crafted a sound that reflects the many influences that shaped him, making his name feel more like a mission statement than a stage name. His production refuses to stay in one lane, effortlessly moving between soulful sample chops, gospel-inspired arrangements, dusty boom-bap grooves, and grimy textures. Every beat carries a different mood while remaining rooted in authenticity, showcasing a producer whose versatility is matched only by his passion for the craft.
On July 28, Man of Many Hats will unveil his latest collaborative effort, “THE PALETTE,” alongside New Jersey emcee Mystic Lovelle. The three-track EP lives up to its name, painting a vivid picture of emotion through expressive lyricism and thoughtfully crafted production.
