Assasin The General is a multi-talented creative from Dallas who now resides in El Paso, Texas. Over the years, the author/emcee has been sharpening his pen and building an impressive arsenal of music. With his sharp songwriting skills, he continues to captivate and entertain his ever-growing audience. Rap Olympus Media recently sat down with Assasin The General for an exclusive interview, and here is how it went down!

I grew up in a broken home, where journaling my feelings became a therapeutic outlet. Over time, those writings evolved into poetry and eventually transformed into songwriting.

Currently, I have Griselda, Benny The Butcher, Conway, Ransom, and multiple underground artists in heavy rotation. But it was Eminem, Nas, Wu-Tang, The LOX, Canibus, Mr. Pookie, Master P, Triple Six Mafia, Dr. Dre, and Snoop that initially sparked my creativity. When I moved to El Paso, I began studying Ice Cube, Tupac, Biggie, Big Pun, Big L, OutKast, Ghostface Killah, Gangstar, Cypress Hill, Violators MixTape, and Mobb Deep.

In the military, stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia, I was introduced to artists like Camouflage (RIP), Pastor Troy, Young Jeezy, T.I., Immortal Technique, Vinnie Paz, R.A. the Rugged Man, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, and Sage Francis. After deployment to Iraq, I was honorably medically discharged. Transitioning back to civilian life was challenging, and I found myself homeless for a year, struggling to find stability.

On February 18th, I released an album titled “When The Pen Bleeds Book 1 of 2.” The project features production by Katsuro Beats, with additional cuts by DJ Marc. I have guest appearances by Chris Rivers (Big Pun’s son), Planet Asia, Copywrite, Eternal of Killa Beez, and Redman on the PSA intro.

Listeners can expect to hear classic lyricism and elite songwriting on this project. I wanted to highlight the founding elements of Hip-Hop so the soundscape consists of hard-hitting beats, premium cuts, and carefully crafted bar-work.

This year, I plan on personally throwing a couple of shows and connecting more with my audience. I also plan on releasing a new single featuring Westside Boogie from Shady Records. I have a lot of new music and big plans ahead, and this is only the beginning.
