During his Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction speech on 11/5/22, Eminem gave flowers to a long list of rappers who directly inspired his career in one way or another. One particular name on that list was fellow Detroit emcee Mersiless Amir. The 7 Mile artist is no stranger to putting in hard work and continues to add to his growing legacy with each passing project.
On 2/2/22, Mersiless Amir released “True Legend,” the first triple album in Detroit Hip-Hop history. Predominantly self-produced except for 3-tracks (“Movie Star Persona,” prod. by Symphony Da Great, “The Moment,” prod. by Nick Speed, and “Disco Tech,” prod. by K.I.D.D. The Producer ), the immense entry spans 87 minutes with a tracklisting of 33 songs. The well-rounded project received praise for delivering the perfect balance of uplifting vibes and thought-provoking material designed to spark conversation.

A year later, Mersiless Amir continues making “True Legend” his top priority by releasing various visuals for selected songs. The latest addition, “He Came From Outcold” (directed & edited by Mersiless Amir, shot by KenSh0t_it & Slick_B), is said to be inspired by Muhammad Ali’s featured film “The Greatest.” Check it out on YouTube for a glimpse of the grandmaster in training.
With the first quarter of 2023 in the rearview, Mersiless Amir’s drive is still running on a full tank. A video for “Return from Eternity” (directed & edited by Mersiless Amir, shot by KenSh0t_it, Slick_B, & Kts_a_beast) is set to drop in mid-April, followed by “Take Off Time” (directed by Mersiless Amir & Ready Cinematic) later in May.
