Hip-Hop producer and artist abeatchemist continues to push the boundaries of sound and thought with his latest project, “Space Is Deep.” Known for blending raw hip-hop sensibilities with cosmic reflection, he invites listeners into an expansive journey that’s as much about the universe as it is about humanity. We sat down with abeatchemist to discuss the vision behind the album, the balance between creativity and responsibility, and the message he hopes will resonate with the world. Here’s how it went down!
Thanks for joining us today. For those new to your work, could you introduce yourself and walk us through your musical journey?
Peace, I go by abeatchemist. I was born and raised on the South Side of Chicago. I’ve always been a huge Hip-Hop fan/enthusiast, listening to many great artists like EPMD, KRS-1, Rakim, Ice Cube, Tribe, Gang Starr, Organized Konfusion, Nas, and many more. I started freestyling for fun (ciphers in the park) and then eventually writing rhymes while I was in college down South (ATL). I began to focus more and sharpened my pen a few years after I graduated from college.
Another brother from college and I decided to start a group/duo called Soul Survivas. After many failed attempts to acquire beats from other local producers, I decided to invest in myself and the group, so I purchased my first piece of production gear, an Ensoniq ASR-10, and began producing beats for our debut album, “The War of Art.” I’ve been passionately writing and producing music ever since!
“Space Is Deep” feels very intentional. Did you approach the album with a specific mindset or vision from the start?
Not at first because I hadn’t been writing for about a year or so, and I wasn’t even considering making a new project. However, like most of my art, inspiration usually begins with my production. Once I had a couple of beats that sparked that fire inside, I started writing, which eventually guided my spirit to the vision/concept for Space Is Deep. It was just all organic and free, honestly!

Is there an underlying message you hope resonates with listeners?
Absolutely! With all my projects, I feel it’s important to not only provide music/bars for the entertainment aspect of it, but to also provide real-life perspectives, testimonies, vulnerability, and art form to make people really think beyond what’s happening on the surface, in hopes of having a positive impact on them and their lives. Space Is Deep takes the listener on a journey through space and time itself, demonstrating that all of our lives mean something extraordinary and have value within a universe where we’re literally just a speck of stardust. Since I was a kid, I’ve been fascinated by the vastness of the universe and our place in it. With this project, I’m exploring the magnificence of the cosmos and our own existence, capturing how the two mirror each other.
Having the ability to produce, write, and perform puts you in complete control of your creativity. Do you find that level of freedom empowering, or does the weight of managing everything ever feel overwhelming?
It makes me feel alive and inspired! Producing and writing music is so natural and easy for me because it genuinely brings me peace & happiness. Humbly, I truly believe it’s just one of the gifts God has blessed me with. I’ve often told friends and family that my music saved my life and made me a better person.
If you had to choose a track that captures the essence of the entire album, which would it be and why?
Man, I would say at the moment, it’s probably “Forever.” The whole song/concept is from the perspective of another intelligent being (alien) from another part of the universe that’s lived amongst us and studied us and our ways (both good and bad).
It’s talking directly to the entire human race on the planet. It’s a message for humanity, a reminder of how small and insignificant we all are in the grand scheme of the universe. We have such great potential to grow and to become a much better version of ourselves than we currently are. It encourages us to value the fragility of life, to nurture healing for both the planet and one another, and to embrace a deeper sense of love and humanity for all.
Is there anything else you would like to share with the people before we wrap things up?
Thank you, and I truly appreciate the love and support. To all music lovers & hip-hop enthusiasts, please continue to support the art form, artists, producers, and creators of OUR CULTURE…HIP-HOP! I have a couple of more projects I’m planning to release on 10/17/25 – Open Vaults I & II. Stay tuned, and peace!
