Week 3 came down to the wire, with just one judge’s vote making the difference. The 4BAR App All-Stars and Cali Bar Keepers delivered yet another showcase of lyrical diversity and style. So, who took the W this time? Let’s find out!
With 4BAR App All-Stars securing the win, we caught up with DAPHYA, our team MVP, for a recap.
Congratulations on the win! How do you feel about your team’s overall performance in Week 3?
I feel great, and my team is growing stronger the more we work together. It’s a great overall experience of camaraderie.
Did you anticipate such a tight match-up, with Cali Bar Keepers clinching the fan vote and 4BAR App securing the judge’s vote by a slim margin?
Honestly, no, but only because our previous game was such a landslide against an exceptionally talented team, Pendulum Ink University. That was way more of a shock for everyone, and you never truly know what to expect each round, but we do our best and hope for the win.
You’ve been racking up MVP votes all season. Can we expect more of the same, or is that something you rarely focus on?
It’s something I actually never focused on to begin with. I’m a stylistic emcee from LA with NYC roots based in wordplay, so I’ve always just rapped what feels best, but it’s super awesome when others feel it with me.
The 4BAR App All-Stars remain undefeated this season. What will it take to keep the streak going into Week 6 against New York Firehouse?
I think our chemistry is undeniable, and we’ve already heard people noticing some of our unique signatures, so that’s dope as far as building a connection with the listeners. We definitely study our opponents and try to match energy while maintaining our individual style, but most of all, we just plan to stay hungry and not get comfortable or used to winning.
Is there anything else you want to include before wrapping things up?
I have a motivational streetwear brand available at www.DAPHYA.com, including a crewneck dedicated to MS awareness with proceeds donated to a fundraiser (linked in my Instagram bio) supporting research to help find a cure. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a chronic disease where the immune system attacks the protective covering of nerves, causing problems with communication between the brain and the rest of the body. I was diagnosed with it in 2023 and hope to become an advocate for awareness. My latest single, “RUNNIN,” from hip-hop producer Mike G’s album Culture Damaged 2, is streaming everywhere.
