Rap Olympus Media recently caught up with Jaytheplvg, a young recording artist and beatmaker from Annapolis, Maryland. Crafting a growing discography and producing beats for artists like Ratedxjay, Wurmboi?, and BMONOTABI, Jaytheplvg is looking to make 2025 a year to remember. In this interview, we dive into his latest project, his creative inspirations, and what he has in store for listeners.

What inspired you to start creating music?
I connected with music at a young age. I started in a band, playing instruments, which gave me my first taste of the creation process. I started freestyling in High School, and it quickly became a passion. A friend of mine, KingLegend, encouraged me to record my first song, and that moment changed everything. From there, I never looked back. I fell in love with the art form and the incredible feeling of having listeners resonate with something I created. Music became my outlet, and no matter what life threw at me, I kept pushing forward, growing, and evolving as an artist.
Are there any other artists who inspire your creativity?
I find inspiration in Playboi Carti, Ken Carson, Outkast, Team Sleep, Gorillaz, Evanescence, Nirvana, and so many other artists. I approach music with an open mind, constantly exploring and studying different sounds and creative perspectives.
Can you tell us about your recent project?
My latest project is titled JINK, and I released it on Wear It Pink Day (October 18, 2024), an annual event dedicated to raising awareness for breast cancer. This project offers a little something for everyone, blending different vibes to create a versatile listening experience. If you’re new to my music, you could tap in with some of my earlier projects, Plvg Tape Vol. 1 and Two-Face.

Do you have any shows coming up scheduled for 2025?
On January 19th, I had the opportunity to perform at the Diamond League Allstars Event, presented by VII Diamonds. I’ll be on stage on February 14th at Verge’s Album Release Showcase in Baltimore, Maryland. Anyone in the area should slide through!
Where do you see your career in the next few years?
I see my career reaching new heights with every step forward. I love what I do and will always keep the people who support my music in the loop. I want to give a special shout-out to my family, friends, and supporters for being the driving force behind my motivation and passion!
