Posted by Rap Olympus Media recently sat down with international recording artist Miss Giody (Catania, Sicily) to discuss her music journey, the inspiration behind her work, her upcoming new single, and plans for the remainder of 2024. Here’s how it went down!
How long have you been creating music, and what inspired you to get started?
I began making music in 2020 after the brutal murder of George Floyd. I wanted to make my voice heard and publicly denounce police brutality in the US and around the world. My passion for poetry and love for rap has always been a driving force behind my musical journey.
How would you describe your musical sound?
My musical sound is explosive, reflecting the same energy I bring to everything I do. You can feel that intensity in every one of my songs, I want to leave listeners feeling energized and invigorated.
Tell us about your upcoming single dropping on May 31st.
My upcoming single, “COME UN FILM,” features Brazilian singer/football player B-GR from São Paulo and is produced by Jay Hell. When I first connected with B-GR, he was a model in one of my videos. As we rode around the city freestyling together one night, I noticed he had a strong sense of rhythm and timing. I suggested we collaborate on a song, and he eagerly agreed to make it happen.
If you had to pick one song from your catalog to make a strong impression, which would it be?
One of my standout tracks is “Rap Dice,” which I released in February 2022. The song reflects on my dreams, values, and love for life. You should definitely check it out.
What are your plans for the remainder of 2024?
I dropped my debut album “Reckless Desire” last year, so I’m eager to get started on my sophomore album. I’m unafraid of embracing a life of schedules, projects, and deadlines. I live life to the fullest and strive to make the most of my time. Instead of letting time slip away, I engage in various activities to keep my inner fire burning.
Is there anything else you would like to share with us today?
I rap in three languages: Italian, English, and French. I’ve collaborated with artists from around the globe, including One Love 224 from Côte d’Ivoire, Ra2iss from Morocco, Ao Murda from Arizona (who opened for Ice Cube), and Suzy from Nigeria. Going international is the key to unlocking new opportunities, and I’m ready to see the world.
